FAQs

Roll Off Joe

  • What happens if I miss garbage day?

In the event you forget to put your garbage out on the scheduled pickup day, we can arrange an alternative pickup before your next scheduled collection, subject to availability. Please note that a turnaround fee will be applied. To request this service, please send us a message with your phone number so we can coordinate the rescheduled pickup.
  • When should I put my garbage out?

We recommend placing all pails at the roadside the evening before your designated pickup day. For those concerned about wildlife, you may use a bear strap to secure your containers. Our drivers are prepared to remove these straps when emptying your garbage.
  • What items are not accepted?

Our weekly garbage and recycling service is limited to regular household waste. We do not accept construction debris, yard or organic waste, hazardous materials, or excessive volumes such as those from 'spring cleaning'. For bulky item disposal, we offer a once-monthly pickup service or dumpster rentals. Please contact us for more information on these options.
  • What if I have more garbage than fits in the pail?

Our service is restricted to the contents of a closed 96-gallon pail. Our drivers are not permitted to collect extra bags placed beside or protruding from the container. If you consistently exceed this capacity, please contact us to discuss upgrading your service with an additional pail for an extra fee.
  • What if my garbage hasn't been picked up yet?

Collection times may vary throughout the day. Please ensure your pail is out the night before your scheduled pickup. If it's before 3:00 pm, it's likely that your driver is still en route. We kindly ask that you wait until after 3:00 pm before contacting us about a missed collection.
  • How does the billing work?

We offer flexible billing cycles including monthly, quarterly, or annual options, all at the same rate. Payments can be made via phone, check, online, or autopay. Bills are issued on the 1st and due by the 15th of each month. Quarterly payments are due by the 15th of the first month of each quarter. Autopay transactions are processed on the 1st of the month. For check payments, please mail to: Roll Off JOE, P.O. Box 246, Westtown, NY 10998. You can view your account history and make payments at www.trashbilling.com using your account number.
  • How do you handle holidays and weather?

We strive to maintain our regular collection schedules during holidays and inclement weather conditions. Any updates regarding holiday or weather-related changes will be communicated via our Roll-Off JOE Facebook page and email notifications.
  • Do I need to bag garbage and recycling?

All garbage must be bagged to prevent it from adhering to the container. Recycling can be placed loose in the bin as we utilize single-stream recycling. We encourage you to keep your pail clean. If it becomes damaged, please send us a photo via text or email. We will replace it at no cost if the damage is our fault, but a fee may apply if it's due to customer negligence.
  • Are there contracts?

We do not require our customers to sign contracts. Our aim is to retain customers through the quality of our service rather than contractual obligations.
  • What about bear attacks?

We are not liable for cleaning up garbage scattered by animals. While we will attempt to collect bagged garbage if possible, any loose, scattered trash remains the responsibility of the homeowner. Customers are welcome to use bear-proof containers, and we can provide a Roll-Off JOE sticker for identification purposes.
